Working alone or in collaboration with other governments and world-renowned space agencies such as NASA and the European Space Agency, CSA is committed to maintaining a level of excellence and upgrading its boardrooms and operation rooms to incorporate new and changing technologies. For all of its boardrooms and operation rooms, the Canadian Space Agency and its AV consultant, Lacroix Audiovisuel, work with Clockaudio.
The Canadian Space Agency is a heavy user of video and audio conferencing equipment due to its collaboration with other agencies and organizations around the world, and its boardrooms and operation rooms often host some of the world’s most brilliant minds. Poor video and audio quality can fatigue the brain and force it to work harder to understand what is being said — a risk the Agency could not accept when making critical decisions.
In the Executive Boardroom specifically, a large oval conference table sits beneath a matching decorative oval built into the ceiling. Sound bouncing between the two ovals made conversation difficult to understand, and Clockaudio was brought in to assess the room’s acoustic dynamics.
Across the facility, several different Clockaudio products are used, including CS Series boundary layer microphones in meeting rooms, C3SEW-RF hanging microphones in the training rooms, and C012E-RF through-table cardioid boundary layer microphones. The Agency has been so pleased with the C012E-RF that it has become the standard microphone for the executive, satellite operation, and science boardrooms.
The C012E-RF units are installed with a CH-32 touch switch featuring bi-colored status lights, programmed by a Crestron control system to signal when the system is on or off — giving team leaders and guests visual assurance that the system is functioning and that their conversations are private.
For the Executive Boardroom’s sound-bounce issue, Clockaudio identified the air gap below the ceiling causing noise spill-over and proposed a design for a customized gooseneck microphone for the conference table to address it. For the training area, ceiling-mounted C3SE-RF microphones were specified and laid out by Clockaudio and the consultant team to cross-capture sound across the large, modular room without any permanently affixed equipment.
The success of this project was the result of seamless collaboration between specialized partners, each contributing unique expertise to deliver an exceptional outcome.
